چکیده

This paper deals with active tracking of 3D moving targets. The performance and robustness in visual control of motion depend on the vision algorithms and the control structure where dynamical aspects can not be neglected. Visual tracking is presented as a regulation control problem. Both system architecture and controller design are discussed. The performance of visually guided systems is substantially deteriorated by delays in the control loop. Interpolation is used to cope with visual processing delay. Model predictive control strategies are proposed to compensate for the mechanical latency and improve the global system performance.

Model Predictive Control to Improve Visual Control of Motion: Applications in Active Tracking of Moving Targets

This paper deals with active tracking of 3D moving targets. Visual tracking is presented as a regulation control problem. The performance and robustness in visual control of motion depends both on the vision algorithms and the control structure. Delays and system latencies substantially affect the performance of visually guided systems. In this paper we discuss ways to cope with delays while im...

Perceptually-driven Avatars and Interfaces: active methods for direct control

We show how machine perception techniques can allow people to use their own bodies to control complex virtual representations in computer graphic worlds. In contrast to existing solutions for motion capture, tracking people for virtual avatars or intelligent interfaces requires processing at multiple levels of resolution. We apply active perception techniques and use visual attention to track a...

Control Issues to Improve Visual Control of Motion: Applications in Active Tracking of Moving Targets

This paper deals with active tracking of 3D moving targets. Tracking is based on different visual behaviors, namely smooth pursuit and vergence control. The performance and robustness in visual control of motion depends both on the vision algorithms and the control structure. In this work we evaluate these two aspects, characterize the delays, and discuss ways to cope with latency while improvi...

Adaptive Voltage-based Control of Direct-drive Robots Driven by Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

Tracking control of the direct-drive robot manipulators in high-speed is a challenging problem. The Coriolis and centrifugal torques become dominant in the high-speed motion control. The dynamical model of the robotic system including the robot manipulator and actuators is highly nonlinear, heavily coupled, uncertain and computationally extensive in non-companion form. In order to overcome thes...

Applying mean shift and motion detection approaches to hand tracking in sign language

Hand gesture recognition is very important to communicate in sign language. In this paper, an effective object tracking and hand gesture recognition method is proposed. This method is combination of two well-known approaches, the mean shift and the motion detection algorithm. The mean shift algorithm can track objects based on the color, then when hand passes the face occlusion happens. Several...
